Learning About Walmart Connect
This week, I took a different approach to learning at Apex. Instead of sitting in meetings or collaborating in-office, I focused on studying one of the most important tools in the retail world, Walmart Connect. Walmart Connect is Walmart’s closed-loop advertising platform that allows brands to reach shoppers digitally and in-store through highly targeted marketing. From self-checkout ads to in-store TV walls and digital campaigns, the platform gives brands a chance to drive awareness and sales on a scale.
Through a combination of video training, certification quizzes, and industry readings, I learned the start to end process of launching a Walmart Connect campaign. I now understand how brands use first-party data, shopper targeting, and omni-channel strategy to build meaningful customer experiences. I even earned nine industry certifications, which gave me insight into both the strategic and tactical sides of Walmart’s media ecosystem.
Growing up as a Young Professional As a high school intern, I never imagined I would be learning marketing strategies directly tied to the world’s largest retailer. This internship has shown me that even at a young age, I can add value, grow professionally, and learn real-world skills. Getting to dive deep into a topic like Walmart Connect has helped me connect the dots between sales, marketing, and supply chain. It’s not just about getting products on the shelf—it’s about making sure the customer knows they’re there and wants to buy them.
These certifications helped me see the bigger picture of how brands operate in retail. I’ve grown more confident in my ability to learn independently, apply industry knowledge, and contribute to my team.
Tying it All Together
This week gave me a full-circle moment. Instead of just focusing on sales reports or in-stock data, I have got to see how essential marketing strategies are in driving retail success. Walmart Connect plays a huge role in a brand’s success, and learning about it has added another layer to my experience here at Apex. I’m excited to continue combining what I’ve learned and see how all these pieces work together in real-time client work.
